Thermal transfer printing, also called thermal ink transfer printing, is an optimum printing solution for demanding labelling applications. It uses a heat-sensitive ribbon to transfer the intended data onto the facestock material and to produce accurate, high-quality images with edge definition.

When matched with suitable data carrier media, the resulted labels can tolerate many physical and chemical stress. These are permanent identification labels and can withstand extreme temperatures, moisture and UV exposure.

Thermal transfer technology can print within tight tolerances. This makes the barcode printers produce exactly the bar widths that successful barcode printing and scanning require in the professional label printing.
